Vol. 300 No. 8

Written Answers. - Meath Housing Scheme.

374.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in sanctioning the erection of the first 40 houses in the Summerhill Road, Trim, County Meath scheme; and when it is proposed to sanction them.

There was no undue delay by my Department in sanctioning this scheme. Proposals for a scheme of 158 houses and 20 private sites were submitted to my Department on 19th August, 1977. Details of housing needs were obtained from the council on 26th September, 1977. The proposals were approved on 5th October, subject to some planning amendments.

The council propose to carry out a first stage of the scheme comprising 42 houses and 7 private sites. Subject to the normal requirements regarding the allocation of capital to finance the scheme, the acceptance of a tender for the first stage of the scheme and its construction will be matters for the council.
