Vol. 300 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rape Victims.

23.

asked the Minister for Justice whether there is provision at present to provide for the anonymity of rape victims; and, if not, if he will initiate measures to this effect.

There is no legislation providing for the anonymity of rape victims. The current general practice in reporting such cases is to withhold the names of the victims. I propose, however, to keep under review the need for legislation in this area.
