Vol. 301 No. 1

Written Answers. - Community Youth Training Programme.

433.

asked the Minister for Labour the total number of people employed under the Community Youth Training Programme; the number of schemes approved under this programme in the Dublin area; the number in operation; the total (a) Government and (b) EEC grant towards this programme; and if he is satisfied that the programme, as operated at present, will meet the projected target.

The number of people trained under the Community Youth Training Programme, since work commenced on it in December, 1975, to date, has been 900. The number of schemes approved under the programme in the Dublin area for the same period was 44 and the total number in operation in the country as a whole at present is 65, of which ten are in the Dublin area.

The Government have made available through AnCO a total of £750,000 for the Community Youth Training Programme since its inception. A further £750,000 was approved by the European Social Fund.

The 1977 target under the Community Youth Training Programme was for 90,000 mandays. Circumstances outside the control of the management of AnCO, however, delayed the implementation of the scheme this year. The number of mandays worked to date is 47,506 and AnCO estimate that 75,000 mandays will be achieved by the end of the year.
