Vol. 302 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Dublin Hospital Usage.

337.

asked the Minister for Health if Cheeverstown Hospital, County Dublin, is to be renovated for use as a residential centre for mentally handicapped; the number of places to be provided; and when it is envisaged that work will commence.

Planning is proceeding on a project to provide a new mental handicap centre in the grounds of the former Cheeverstown Convalescent Home, Templeogue. The centre will provide a total of 284 places—154 day places and 130 residential places. Planning of the project is proceeding and is expected to be completed in late 1978. I would hope that building work could commence shortly after that.
