Vol. 302 No. 2

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

384.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when Emyvale Exchange, County Monaghan will go automatic.

It is expected that Emyvale telephone exchange will be converted to automatic working about September next.

385.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is expected to provide an adequate telephone service for the Dunlewey area of County Donegal; and when he expects to be able to provide a 24 hour service to the valley.

Service in the Dunlewey area is not normal at present. It has been adversely affected owing to faults on a number of Letterkenny trunk circuits. I regret that it has not yet been possible to have the faulty circuits restored to service because of industrial action by local technicians.

The introduction of continuous service at Gweedore Exchange which serves Dunlewey is not warranted at present.

386.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange for the provision of a telephone kiosk at Castlepark Estate, Ballincollig, County Cork.

The use made of the existing kiosks serving the area is not sufficient to warrant provision of an additional kiosk in the general area at present.
