Vol. 303 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rabies Order.

331.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if there is a need to introduce in this country an order similar to the Rabies (Slaughter and Compensation) Order, 1977 introduced recently in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The answer to the Deputy's question is "No". Our anti-rabies legislative provisions are contained in the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) and the Rabies Order, 1976 (S.I. No. 94 of 1976) which are considered adequate at present. They are, of course, subject to regular review.
