Vol. 303 No. 1

Written Answers. - Waterford Industries.

345.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the number of new industries to be established in Waterford city, the employment involved and the estimated starting-up date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I take it that the question relates to new projects that have recently been approved for grant assistance. I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that two new projects involving approximately 200 jobs have recently been approved grant assistance to establish in Waterford city. As negotiations with the promoters have not been concluded I am not at present in a position to give details of the projects. Negotiations relating to the establishment of projects in Waterford city are in progress in a further three instances.

I am informed also by the IDA that new firms which have recently begun operations in Waterford, but which have not yet reached full production, and expansion projects by existing firms are expected to increase their present levels of employment by a total of 1,100.
