Vol. 304 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - OISRÍ Teoranta.

15.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if, in view of the urgent need to provide employment in the Connemara Gaeltacht, he will arrange to have OISRÍ Teoranta, Rossaveal reopened, and thereby reestablish the employment of 25 persons.

16.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht when it is planned to re-open OISRÍ Teoranta at Rossaveal, County Galway, thus discontinuing the practice of exporting an unfinished product from Éisc Teoranta.

Le cead an Cheann Comhairle tógfaidh mé Ceisteanna 15 agus 16 le chéile. Is ag daoine príobháideacha atá formhór na ngnáthscaireanna in Oisrí Teoranta agus tá súil agam go n-éireoidh go luath le hiarrachtaí atá á ndéanamh chun fadhbanna a bhaineann leis an gcomhlacht a réiteach d'fhonn go bhféadfaidh an mhonarcha dul i mbun oibre arís.

An bhfuil sé gnáthach freagraí Gaeilge a thabhairt ar cheisteanna atá ar an gClár i mBéarla? An bhfuil aon seans ann go dtiochfadh an tAire Oideachais isteach anseo agus freagra a thabhairt as Laidin?

Tá foireann aistriúcháin sa Teach.

As a matter of courtesy—everybody in the House is not as proficient in Irish as the Minister —would it not be possible when a question is asked in English to give the answer in that language? I should like to say it does not worry me, personally.

It seems to be the practice in relation to Gaeltacht questions to give the replies in Irish. The Chair has no function to compel a bilingual answer.
