The grant for this purpose is paid annually, on application to principal teachers of schools wishing to participate in the scheme. The disbursement of the grant is a matter for the principal teachers who, subject to the overall amount of money made available to them, have discretion in the selection of pupils to be assisted, and in the extent of assistance to be granted in each case.
