Vol. 304 No. 9

Written Answers. - National Schools.

364.

asked the Minister for Education the number of national schools which are (a) vested, and (b) non-vested; and if the owners or patrons of non-vested national schools may close such schools or sell the premises without his consent.

The total number of national schools is 3,508. It is estimated that about 750 of these are non-vested.

The continuance of schools in non-vested premises and the disposal of premises when they are no longer used as schools are matters for decision by the patron or owners.
