Vol. 305 No. 1

Written Answers. - ACC Chief Executive.

484.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will state in respect of the Agricultural Credit Corporation (a) the salary and total emoluments of the chief executive and (b) whether the chief executive of this body receives fees in respect of membership of other bodies, boards or councils.

As regards (a) of the Deputy's question the Agricultural Credit Act, 1978, specifies that the salary and allowances payable by the Agricultural Credit Corporation to its chief executive should be determined by the corporation subject to the consent of the Minister for the Public Service. According to the official records in my Department the present salary of the chief executive as so determined, should be £12,000 a year. I have been informed, however, by the corporation that the chief executive's salary is £16,000 a year and I am at present in correspondence with the corporation in this matter. In addition to his salary the chief executive is supplied with a company car and has a housing loan at a favourable interest rate.

In reply to (b) of the question the chief executive does not receive any fees in respect of membership of other bodies, boards or councils and so on.
