Vol. 305 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Small Industries Pilot Scheme.

2.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy if he will furnish details of the autonomous powers which are to be vested in SFADCo to carry out the pilot scheme for small industries in the mid-western region; if he will ensure that there will be no conflict between SFADCo and the county development teams; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

SFADCo will have full responsibility for the promotion and development within the mid-west region of indigenous small industries and industries promoted by first-time entrepreneurs. This will include the assessment of projects, decisions as to the incentives and facilities which should be offered, the provision of such incentives, the negotiation, administration and enforcement of agreements in regard to such incentives and the administration of a programme of after-care for established small industry.

I can see no reason why there should be any conflict between SFADCo and the county development teams in regard to SFADCo's new responsibilities for small industry in the mid-west region.
