Vol. 306 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Attendance Act.

111.

asked the Minister for Health if he will draw the attention of the Task Force on Child Care to the limitations of the 1926 School Attendance Act; and if he will ask the task force, as part of their brief, to review and make recommendations about the scope of the legislation in question.

I understand that the task force are already considering the provisions of the School Attendance Act, 1926, in so far as these relate to their terms of reference, which are concerned only with deprived children and children at risk. Any recommendations which the task force may make in this matter will be referred to the Minister for Education, who is the Minister responsible for the administration of the Act.
