Vol. 306 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry Housing Grants.

152.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Kerry qualifies for a new house grant.

An application for a new house grant was received in this case in September 1976 in respect of a house which the applicant stated had commenced in April 1975. A grant was refused, however, in January 1977 because the applicant's annual income as certified by Kerry County Council exceeded £1,950 which was the maximum sum allowed for a person with no dependants under the scheme then in operation. On 26th October 1977 the applicant sought the £1,000 new house grant in respect of the same house but, as work had commenced before 27 May 1977 a grant under the new scheme could not be allowed.

153.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in processing an application for a construction grant from a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

There has been no undue delay in this case. The application was received on 23 March 1978 and the papers in connection with the case are with the inspector who will examine the house shortly.
