Vol. 307 No. 10

Written Answers . - Clare Telephone Service .

135.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the plans he has for development of the new telephone services in County Clare.

: Current programmes include conversion to automatic working of Kilrush, Kilkee, Ennistymon, Lahinch, Lisdoonvarna, Miltown Malbay, Scarriff and Feakle. Acquisition of sites and provision of new exchange buildings, where necessary, is going ahead. Conversion is also dependent on extension of the trunk switching exchange at Limerick where work on a building extension to house the equipment has started. Allowing for the time required to complete the buildings and manufacture and install the equipment the most optimistic estimate for these conversions is 1980-1981.
