Written Answers . - Roscommon New Projects .

157.

asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to commence work on the new health centre for Roscommon town; the cost of this project; and the proposed accommodation and location.

: There is no proposal with my Department for the provision of a health centre at Roscommon town. However, a proposal from the Western Health Board for the provision of a new community care headquarters at Roscommon town has been approved and is included in the current building programme.

Planning of the scheme is in progress and building work should commence next year. The preliminary estimate of the cost of the scheme is £200,000.

Office accommodation will be provided for the full range of community care staff including the director, medical and dental officers, public health nurses and social workers, health inspectors and ancillary administrative staff.

The new offices are to be located on the County Hospital site.

158.

asked the Minister for Health the proposed site and location of the welfare home proposed for Roscommon town; the proposed accommodation; the estimated cost; and the proposed management.

: The site proposed for the welfare home at Roscommon is located at Ardnanagh. Residential accommodation will be provided for 40 people and day care facilities will also be included.

It is not possible at this stage of planning to accurately estimate the cost of providing the home.

The home will be managed by the Western Health Board, on the same basis as other welfare homes in the area.
