asked the Minister for Agriculture the present position in regard to his representations to the EEC Commission regarding the difficulties experienced by Irish meat canners in exporting to the UK market, referred to in replies to Parliamentary Questions on 22 October and 6 December 1977.

: A number of proposals have been put to the EEC Commission aimed at solving the difficulties being experienced by Irish beef canners exporting to the UK market. Mainly for legal reasons the Commission has not so far been able to agree to any of these proposals. My Department is continuing its discussions with the Commission with a view to arriving at a satisfactory solution to the problem.
