asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the present position in relation to the provision of a Bord na Móna briquette factory in Ballyforan, County Roscommon.
: With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 60 and 61 together.
Bord na Móna are at present carrying out a comprehensive investigation into the possible use of the peat resources of the Derryfadda group of bogs in Counties Galway and Roscommon. The investigation will include consideration of the feasibility of using the resources for the manufacture of briquettes. I have asked Bord na Móna to give me a detailed technical and financial study on the matter and I expect to receive this material shortly.
