Vol. 308 No. 1

Written Answers. - USSR Properties and Personnel.

326.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of properties rented or leased by the Russian Government in this country.

327.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the estimated number of Russian persons now living in this country since the opening of the Russian Embassy in Dublin; and how this figure compares with the original estimate agreed at the time permission was given to Russia to open an Embassy here.

328.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of properties now owned by the Russian Government in this country, and the estimated value of these properties.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 326, 327 and 328 together.

The Government of the USSR owns three properties and rents or leases five others in Dublin. I am not in a position to estimate the value of the three purchased properties.

With regard to the number of Soviet citizens now living in Ireland, I assume the Deputy is referring to staff numbers at the Soviet Embassy here. The position is that there are five diplomatic officers and 12 support staff made up of Administrative/Technical and Service staff and domestic servants. These figures do not vary from the numbers agreed at the outset.
