The second capital allocation made to local authorities for the payment of house purchase and reconstruction loans and supplementary grants in 1978 was based upon their estimates of their requirements for the full year, revised following their experience of demand for payments on foot of approved loans and grants in the first half of the year.
Column (1) of the following schedule sets out each authority's revised estimate of their requirements for 1978 while column 2 shows the amount allocated in each case.
The amount provided in the public capital programme for local authority house purchase loans and grants was £40.7 million leaving a balance of just under £10 million as yet unallocated.
