Vol. 308 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Hospital Hip Operations.

6.

asked the Minister for Health the number of public patients, and the number of paying patients, who had hip operations performed at the Orthopaedic Hospital, Cork, in the years 1975,1976 and 1977.

The Southern Health Board have informed my Department that the number of hip replacement operations carried out at St. Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital, Cork in 1975, 1976 and 1977 was 119, 159 and 126, respectively. A breakdown of these figures as between public and paying patients is not available but I have asked the health board for this information and I will forward it to the Deputy in due course.
