The Task Force on Child Care Services which is due to report to me during 1979 has the task of preparing a new Childrens Bill, updating and widening the law in relation to children. It is the intention to enact whatever legislation may be recommended as soon as possible.
The Government have established a National Steering Committee for the International Year of the Child to co-ordinate and, where necessary, to stimulate activities which will create a greater awareness of the needs of children and promote their well-being. The committee are inviting all organisations concerned with children, both statutory and voluntary, to indicate their plans for the year.
