Vol. 308 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - St. Brendan's Hospital (Dublin) Detainee.

8.

asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) in Dublin, is being properly detained in St. Brendan's Hospital; if he will outline the reasons for his admission; and if requests by this patient for discharge have been given consideration.

I have verified from the Eastern Health Board that this patient is being properly detained in St. Brendan's Hospital, Dublin, in accordance with the provisions of the Mental Treatment Acts. The reason for his admission was that he was mentally ill and required to be detained in hospital for treatment. I have also verified that his requests for discharge have been given proper consideration.
