Vol. 308 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Withdrawal of Supplementary Allowances.

56.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that in a number of cases in County Kildare the supplementary allowance being paid to old age pensioners living alone has been withdrawn by the health board in cases where the £1 extra allowance for living alone or the £1 extra allowance to persons over eighty years of age has been added to their pensions, and if he will take steps to have these supplementary allowances restored.

I am not aware of the cases referred to by the Deputy. If, however, he provides me with further details of the cases involved, I will arrange to have the matter investigated by the Eastern Health Board.
