Vol. 308 No. 7

Written Answers. - Occupational Injuries Benefit Claim.

68.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will expedite the claim for occupational injuries benefit by a person (details supplied) in County Waterford, who has been waiting for almost a year for a decision.

The person referred to by the Deputy claimed occupational injury benefit in November 1977 when he became incapable of work due to an injury sustained in the course of his employment. His employers, however, did not confirm his statement, and it was found necessary to have the matter investigated by outdoor officers of my Department. These investigations have now been completed, and his injury benefit claim has been allowed. Payment of that benefit has now been issued to him.
