Vol. 308 No. 7

Written Answers. - Primary Schools.

456.

Mr. Walsh

asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the building of a new primary school at Crossmahon, County Cork.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that difficulties have arisen regarding the positioning of the school on the site and that a well will have to be sunk to provide a water supply for the school. The planning authority will also have to be satisfied regarding the suitability of part of the site for the siting of a septic tank.

In the circumstances it is not possible to state at this stage when building work will commence.

457.

asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the provision of an extra room and general purposes room at Currabaggin national school, Knockmore, Ballina, County Mayo.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that the extension scheme it Curraghbaggin National School is now about two-thirds completed and that, at this stage, it would not be feasible to include the building of an extra room and general purposes room. The commissioners propose that the building of the extra classroom and general purposes room should be treated as a separate contract in order that the current scheme may be completed without delay. I am unable to say at present when work on the additional extension scheme will commence.

458.

asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on the new primary school at Swinford, County Mayo.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that tenders are awaited for this project. I am not in a position to say at present when building work will commence.
