Vol. 308 No. 9

Written Answers. - School Transport.

502.

asked the Minister for Education why school transport has not been provided for a pupil (details supplied), who is attending Kilcormac national school, County Offaly, as her brothers and sisters always received free transport to that school.

This child is eligible for free transport to Kinnity national school which is her nearest national school. There is, however, no transport service from her area to that school. A special transport service operates from the area to the national and vocational schools in Kilcormac. Unfortunately, the vehicle operating this service is already catering for a capacity complement in the mornings, but it is possible to facilitate this child in the evenings. This is the best that can be offered at present but the position is being kept under review and should accommodation become available on the morning run, it will be given to her.
