Vol. 309 No. 2

Written Answers. - Waterford Telephone Applications.

493.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state, in respect of the Waterford area, the number of applicants for telephone connections; the average expected waiting time between the deposit of the application and the installation of the service; and the reasons for the dalay.

Excluding 80 applications for which arrangements have been made to provide service, there are about 300 applications awaiting attention at Waterford, of which the earliest was made in November 1977. It is expected that these 300 applications will be met during the summer and autumn of next year. The main reason they cannot be met earlier is that an extension of the Waterford exchange necessary to enable service to be provided is not due to be completed until next summer.
