Vol. 309 No. 5

Written Answers. - Children's Allowances Robberies.

441.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of robberies which have taken place, in each of the past 24 months, on the first Tuesday of each month, in respect of moneys destined to be paid out as children's allowances; and the total amount taken.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that one robbery of children's allowance money occurred on the first Tuesday of each of the months of December 1977, May 1977, April 1978, September 1978, and October 1978. I am informed that no such robberies occurred on the first Tuesday of any other month in the last 24.

The amount of children's allowance money reported taken in the five robberies mentioned was £87,517, of which £30,890 was recovered.
