Written Answers. - Free School Books.

314.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state, in relation to each community school, the amount allocated for the free school books' scheme in the current year; the amount in the previous year; the percentage increase or decrease in each case; and the totals for all community schools in each of the periods in question.

It would not be in accordance with normal practice and procedure to give such particulars in relation to individual schools. The total allocation to community schools for the free books scheme in 1978 was £41,712 as compared with £36,337 in 1977.

315.

The amount made available to comprehensive schools under the free books scheme in 1978 was £24,060. The same schools received £28,121 under the free books scheme in 1977. The percentage decrease is 14.
