A sum of £100,000 was allocated among vocational education committees to enable them to finance youth and sports activities in their administrative areas in 1978. asked the Minister for Education the increased grant aid which it is intended to allocate to youth organisations this year; the organisations that will benefit; and if any new organisations will benefit from such aid.
I have been examining the position of certain youth organisations with financial difficulties which had accumulated over the past years. To help the organisations in question and as a "once only" measure I will be introducing a Supplementary Estimate for £62,000 in Dáil Éireann in the very near future. This money will be allocated among youth organisations already in receipt of grant aid from my Department.
Details of the precise amounts payable to each organisation will be announced as soon as possible after the Supplementary Estimate has been passed by Dáil Eireann.
