Vol. 310 No. 5

Written Answers. - Rathmullen, Co. Donegal, National School.

258.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay concerning Rathmullen national school, County Donegal; and, in view of the overcrowding as a result of amalgamation, the steps he proposed to take to provide suitable accommodation by way of additional classrooms at an early date.

: Delay has been occasioned in connection with the proposed extension to this school mainly because of legal difficulties which arose in connection with the establishment of title to the land which was required as an extension to the school site. In addition, the extent of the extra accommodation to be provided had to be revised in view of increased enrolments in the scheme.

These matters are now resolved. A grant towards the cost of the project will be sanctioned in the course of the next few days and the Commissioners of Public Works will undertake the further arrangements leading to the placing of a contract for the work.

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the Taoiseach's reply to Questions Nos. 1 and 2, I propose with your permission to raise the matter concerned on the Adjournment.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.
