: The Central Statistics Office are the official source of statistics relating to industrial disputes. However, the figures published by that office do not differentiate between official and unofficial strikes.
Since 1976 my Department have been keeping approximated figures in relation to man-days lost. The figures for 1976, 1977 and January-October, 1978 were as follows:
