Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - VEC Employees.

6.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that certain female attendants employed by Vocational Education Committees, particularly the Tipperary South Riding Committee, are unemployed for approximately six to eight weeks each summer, whereas their previously appointed colleagues are not so discriminated against; if he will allow Vocational Education Committees to retain the former category of attendant in employment for the full year; if he has received any such requests from Vocational Education Committees, particularly Tipperary South Riding Committee, and, if so, the dates of such requests; if he is aware of the willingness of Vocational Education Committees to grant all female attendants equality of employment on receipt of the necessary sanction from him; and if he will now issue the necessary sanction.

I am having the matter investigated and will advise the Deputy of the result as soon as possible.
