Vol. 310 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Houses.

241.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a financial allocation to South Tipperary County Council to carry out urgent repairs to houses, originally built by the NBA at Castlequarter, Killenaule, Thurles, County Tipperary.

I regret that it is not possible for me to make a capital allocation to Tipperary (SR) County Council to carry out repairs to houses at Castlequarter, Killenaule, Thurles. This is due to the necessity to conserve capital resources for the provision of new dwellings for families who are urgently awaiting rehousing.

It is open to the council, however, to apply to my Department for grants which are available for the execution of improvement works to houses of which they are the owner. A State grant of up to £600 or two-thirds of the cost, whichever is the less, may be made in respect of each separate dwelling.
