Vol. 311 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Payments.

164.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare why pay-related benefit has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

All pay-related benefit due to the person concerned was paid to him last month.

165.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will arrange to have an application for an increase in unemployment assistance investigated on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person concerned is at present in receipt of unemployment assistance at a reduced rate. A deciding officer assessed his means at £6.00 weekly and he did not appeal against that assessment. Arrangements are now being made to enable him to appeal if he so wishes and to have his case referred to an appeals officer for determination.

166.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount of the increase in the employees social welfare contribution during the last 12 months.

Provisional returns for 1978 indicate that contributions to the Social Insurance Fund from employees increased by approximately £4 million as against 1977.
