Vol. 311 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dalkey (County Dublin) Garda Strength.

193.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has received representations from Dalkey Community Council requesting the provision of extra gardaí in the Dalkey area, County Dublin; and the action it is proposed to take in the matter.

I have received the representations referred to by the Deputy. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the current strength at Dalkey is the maximum that can be provided at present having regard to overall resources and other demands on Garda services. The question of increasing the strength at the centre will, however, be further considered as soon as additional manpower becomes available for assignment.

As regards the provision of additional transport facilities for the gardaí at Dalkey, I understand that, arising from the organisational changes following the establishment on 5 December last of the new Eastern Division, the question of providing a patrol car and a Detective Unit car, to be operated jointly by Dalkey and Kill-o-Grange stations, is being examined.
