Vol. 312 No. 1

Written Answers. - Peripheral Polyneuritis.

143.

asked the Minister for Health if any assistance or advice is available to a person (details supplied) in Dublin who suffers from peripheral polyneuritis and who must attend the Central Remedial Clinic in Clontarf three times per week but at the present time can only afford to go twice weekly, in view of the cost; and if he or any one of the other Government Departments can assist with a grant in respect of a conversion of a site at the rear of the house to a garden, for the purpose of occupational therapy, the total cost involved being £700; and if the Eastern Health Board, or another body could assist in this case.

The matters raised by the Deputy regarding the case referred to are primarily for the Eastern Health Board.

Following inquiries which I have had made into the matter, the board have indicated that they will be prepared to consider an application for the provision of transport to enable the person concerned to attend at the Central Remedial Clinic on the third occasion each week. The board will also be prepared to consider the question of assistance for the provision of a garden for the purposes of occupational therapy if an application is made to them in the matter.

I suggest that the person involved should raise the two matters with the health board giving the necessary details.
