Vol. 312 No. 8

Written Answers. - Sandyford (Dublin) Road.

173.

asked the Minister for the Environment if plans submitted to him by Dublin County Council contain any proposals for widening or otherwise altering the junction between Hillcrest Road, Sandyford, County Dublin, and Sandyford Post Office; if such plans will involve the acquisition by compulsory purchase or otherwise of any adjoining property, and the description of any such property likely to be affected; if funds are to be made available for any such work; and when such work is likely to commence.

The planning and execution of road improvements at the location mentioned are matters wholly within the discretion of Dublin County Council and would not require to be submitted for my sanction. Any such work would fall to be financed from the county council's own resources supplemented by the general (block) grant provided annually by my Department.

It would also be the function of the county council, in the first instance, to determine the necessity for property acquisition and to make a compulsory purchase order if appropriate.
