Vol. 312 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Donegal Housing.

172.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the chronic housing need in the Carndonagh and Moville areas of County Donegal and if he would make extra money available to meet the housing needs.

I am aware that Donegal County Council propose to provide new housing schemes at Carndonagh and Moville to meet existing housing needs in these areas. They have included proposed schemes in these areas in their claim for the allocation of capital for new local authority housing work to be started before 31 July 1979. Their claim is under consideration in conjunction with similar claims from other authorities. The additional allocation for new work, which will be made by me when the examination of all claims has been completed, will be an allocation for the county council administrative area as a whole. It will be a matter for the county council to decide the relative priority to be accorded to individual schemes in their projected programme for 1979 having regard to the capital allocation made to them.
