Vol. 313 No. 1

Written Answers. - Templemore (Tipperary) Industry.

277.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Energy the present proposals if any, to locate an in dustry in Templemore, County Tipperary.

In their Industrial Plan 1977-1980, the Industrial Development Authority set a target to create 500 new grant-aided jobs in manufacturing industry in North Tipperary, which includes Templemore, during this four year period. These plans are now being revised and the possibility of fixing a higher target for the region is under consideration.

The authority are at present negotiating for the purchase of a site in Templemore which, when acquired, will be actively promoted for a medium to large scale industry. Moreover the Shannon Free Airport Development Company are vigorously promoting Templemore and the North Tipperary area generally for the establishment and expansion of small indigenous industry.
