Vol. 313 No. 9

Written Answers. - Road Classification.

173.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a request from Tralee Urban District Council to consider the possibility of declaring the Clash road, which has been reconstructed over the past few years and is carrying a very heavy volume of traffic, a main road; and, if so, when the necessary order will be made.

I am informed that Tralee Urban District Council recently adopted a resolution requesting that Clash Road be declared to be a main road. Formal notice of the request has not been received in my Department. As such a proposal would, inter alia, involve the transfer of responsibility to Kerry County Council, consultation will be necessary with that body on the matter when the proposal is duly received.
