Vol. 313 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Payments.

270.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount of money paid recently, and under what headings to an individual (details supplied); how such payments were calculated; and whether any further sums are due to the individual concerned.

According to the records of my Department the person concerned was absent from work from 12 February 1979 to 5 March 1979 after which date he resumed work.

He was paid disability benefit amounting to £38.80 for the period 12 February 1979 to 17 February 1979. As he had a full contribution record he was entitled to disability benefit at the maximum rate payable to a married man (£14.35) with wife (£9.35) and four qualified children (£15.10). In addition he was paid pay-related benefit amounting to £11.20 as a supplement to his claim to disability benefit. The sum of £50.00 represents all benefit due in respect of medical evidence of incapacity for work furnished by the claimant in support of his claim.

He claimed unemployment benefit from 19 February 1979 but a deciding officer disallowed the claim under the trade dispute provisions of the Social Welfare Acts. The claimant appealed against the decision to disallow his claim but following an oral hearing of the case an appeals officer upheld the decision of the deciding officer to disallow his claim to unemployment benefit.

He claimed supplementary welfare allowance in respect of the weeks commencing 5 March 1979 and 12 March 1979 and received from the community welfare officer two payments for his wife and children amounting to £24.30 and £12.00 respectively.

All moneys due to the person concerned appear to have been paid.
