asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the accumulated loss in BIM's General Profit and Loss account as at (a) 31 December 1977 and (b) at 31 December 1978 and the proposals, if any, to deal with such loss.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Question Nos. 250 and 259 together.

The accumulated deficit of £661,159 for the year ended 31 December 1976 was reduced to £95,002 at 31 December 1977. The balance of £95,002 was recouped from the 1978 Grant-in-Aid of Administration and Current Development. The figure for 1978 is not yet available.

251.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry where the nett loss of £187,202 in BIM's Annual Account for Boatbuilding is shown in the balance sheet as at 31 December 1976.

The net loss of £187,202 in An Bord Iascaigh Mhara's boatbuilding account in 1976 is shown in the Revenue Account and is part of the balance on this account which is transferred to the General Profit and Loss Account. The balance on the General Profit and Loss Account is shown in the balance sheet.
