Vol. 313 No. 11

Written Answers. - Meath Schemes.

309.

asked the Minister for the Environment if and from FEOGA will be forthcoming for the Fournocks Group Water Scheme, County Meath.

An application for FEOGA aid of £8,816 was forwarded by my Department to the EEC Commission in September 1978 on behalf of the group. A decision on this application is a matter for the EEC Commission and their decision is awaited.

310.

asked the Minister for the Environment the conditions on which EEC aid would be available for group water schemes and rural road improvements in County Meath and the procedures whereby such aid should be sought by local groups.

It is assumed that the Deputy is referring to the possibility of securing aid from the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee Fund (FEOGA). Under Regulation 17/64/EEC, rural water schemes were formerly eligible for FEOGA aid but rural road works under the local improvement scheme were not eligible. Rural water scheme are no longer eligible for FEOGA aid, except in the case of schemes for which applications were lodged with the EEC Commission on or before 31 December 1978. Such an application was lodged on behalf of the Fournocks group scheme, County Meath, and the amount of FEOGA aid requested was £8,816. The decision of the EEC Commission on this application is awaited.

As group water schemes in County Meath no longer qualify for FEOGA aid, the question of application procedures does not arise at this stage.
