Vol. 314 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Galway Group Water Schemes.

42.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that he has not acknowledged a letter sent on 13/11/1978 by the sanitary services section of Galway County Council regarding various group water schemes (details supplied) and that no action or decision has been taken to date.

Following receipt of the letter from Galway County Council of 13 November 1978 regarding the group schemes mentioned by the Deputy, my Department's inspector immediately called on the council to discuss the matter. A difficulty has arisen regarding a common source for the Conagher, Milltown, Conagher-Dalgan and the north-east Milltown schemes and ongoing discussions are taking place between my Department's inspectors and the council to consider the most suitable method of developing the source. It is hoped that the matter will be resolved in the near future.

A source was tested for the Killmacknella scheme but was found to be unsuitable and the group are presently seeking an alternative source.
