Vol. 314 No. 3

Written Answers. - South Tipperary Agricultural Valuations.

154.

asked the Minister for Finance the details of the agricultural valuations in South Tipperary and the number of agricultural holdings whose valuation is £3 or under £5 and so on to the maximum valuation.

I am informed by the Commissioner of Valuations that his records of agricultural land valuations are compiled by reference not to agricultural holdings but to land lots which are pieces of land specifically identifiable for rateable valuation purposes but are not synonymous with agricultural holdings. For example, two separate land lots may be farmed as one holding. In South Tipperary there are an estimated 12,000 land lots and it would not be practicable to extract and tabulate details of each individual case. If, however, the Deputy wishes to elicit simply the number of land lots in South Tipperary according to the valuation categories in his question, I will arrange with the Valuation Office to furnish him with that information.
