Vol. 314 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Tenants.

6.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a report from the National Association of Tenants' Organisations requesting a meeting to discuss the present position of local authority tenants and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I recently received a letter from the national Association of Tenants' Organisations seeking a meeting with me and I have agreed to meet representatives of the association this afternoon.

I do not wish in any way to prejudice the outcome of the discussions, but does the Minister propose to have meaningful discussions this afternoon with the delegation?

I have had discussions with them since I became Minister and I should hope these discussions will be meaningful.

Does the Minister agree that the discussions immediately before and after Christmas were more in the form of information exchanges than actual discussions? Can he indicate if there will be more on the agenda this afternoon than on previous occasions?

I have not yet seen the agenda.

Is the Minister telling us he is to meet these people this afternoon and that he has not seen the agenda?

I am meeting these people this afternoon, I have not seen the actual agenda as yet but I will see it after Question Time.

Is the Minister saying he is meeting people and he does not know what he will talk to them about?

I have discussed the forthcoming meeting already but the actual agenda, Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4, I have not seen. If the Deputy wants me to tell lies I will do so, if it pleases him.

I am asking the Minister to be the Minister for the Environment.

I have not seen an itemised agenda.
