Vol. 314 No. 7

Written Answers. - Workers' Pay.

272.

asked the Taoiseach the basic rates of pay of forestry workers as at (a) the end of the 1977 National Pay Agreement and (b) at each stage in the 1978 National Pay Agreement and (c) the present pay.

273.

asked the Taoiseach the revised rates of pay of forest workers, county council road workers, and agricultural workers since the commencement of the National Pay Agreement, 1978 and the present rate of pay.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 272 and 273 together.

The following statements give for each county:

(1) The basic weekly rate of wages and the hourly equivalent of the basic weekly rate of wages paid to (a) forestry workers and (b) road workers employed by county councils for a 40-hour week.

(2) The statutory minimum weekly remuneration rates and the hourly equivalent of these rates payable to (c) adult agricultural workers under the Employment Regulation Orders (Agricultural Workers Joint Labour Committee). The rates apply to a 42½ hour week from 6 March 1978 and a 40-hour week from 5 March 1979. (Previous hours of work were 42½ hours in winter and 45 hours in summer).

In the case of forestry workers an incentive bonus is payable in addition to the rates quoted. In the case of road workers the rates quoted exclude service pay.
