Vol. 315 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Derelict Site.

61.

asked the Minister for the Environment the proposals, if any, in respect of the derelict site at 10/16 Philipsburgh Avenue, Fairview, Dublin 3, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Action in relation to derelict sites is primarily a matter for the local authority concerned. In the case of the site at 10/16 Philipsburgh Avenue, Fairview, I am informed that Dublin Corporation served notice under the Derelict Sites Act, 1961, on the owner in October 1978 requiring him to carry out specified works which would prevent the land from being or becoming again a derelict site. No appeal was made to me in connection with this notice. As the notice was not complied with within the time specified, the corporation entered on the land in February 1979 to carry out the works required. I also understand that at about the same time the site was enclosed by a low brick wall. This latter work was presumably carried out by the owner.
